Dr. Paul Black

Dr. BlackPresident of Monroe Veterinary Associates and co-director of Pittsford Animal Hospital, Dr. Paul Black attended Sutherland High School in Pittsford and graduated in 1975.

After high school graduation, Dr. Black moved to Ithaca, NY where he attended Cornell University. After 4 years of undergraduate studies, he received his BS Degree in Biological Sciences. Dr. Black did not need to travel very far in order to attend veterinary school. He was admitted to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, and after 4 years of rigorous studies, was awarded his DVM Degree in 1982.

During his years at Cornell, Dr. Black excelled academically. As an undergraduate student, he was a member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Honor Society. As a veterinary student, he received the Upjohn Award for Small Animal Clinical Proficiency.

Dr. Black is an active member of several local and national veterinary organizations. He has been a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association since 1982, the New York State Veterinary Medical Society since 1982, the Genesee Valley Veterinary Medical Association since 1982, the Cornell Feline Health Center since 1992, the American Animal Hospital Association since 1994 and the Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights since 1995. As a member of the Genesee Valley Veterinary Medical Association, he served on the Executive Board from 1990 – 1993, 1995-1997, 1998-2000 and was elected president in 1999.

Dr. Black is married to Carolyn and together they have 3 children – Katie, Matt and Allison. The four-legged members of their family include 2 dogs, 3 cats, a rabbit and several guinea pigs. During his leisure, Dr. Black enjoys playing tennis, running, gardening, walking with his dogs and reading.
